Passionate professional dedicated to women´s rights, gender equality and social justice
With a degree in History from Eduardo Mondlane University (2011), Shaista complemented her training with a specialisation in Gender Studies (2015) from the University of Iceland, through the GEST Programme.
Her professional career has been marked by several impactful experiences, and she currently stands out as a specialist in Gender and Social Inclusion at CESC, where since 2021, she has held the role of Partner Project Manager in the area of women's human rights, where she develops institutional capacity building for women's collectives and other associations at national level.
Between 2017 and 2021, she played a key role as Project Manager in MUVA Tech, an innovative programme focused on the economic empowerment of young women through technology and life skills implemented by the MUVA Programme. During this time, Shaista made a positive contribution to the lives of more than 300 young women in Maputo and Sofala, preparing them to face the challenges and opportunities of the world of work
Prior to these more recent experiences, Shaista collaborated significantly for the UN Women mission, where she acted as a programme assistant from 2008 to 2014. In this role, she was responsible for implementing global campaigns to end violence against women and girls (UNiTE Campaign to end Violence Against Women) at national level.
More than a career, she lives her mission and purpose in everything she does. A human rights activist and believer in the potential of youth and social justice. Throughout her career she has mentored many young women - in personal and professional decision-making and in preparing for important moments.
