Well-established and seasoned Communications specialist, with a career in the public relations industry for close to two decades, she also has over two decades of broadcasting experience, where she continues freelancing at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC). Having served the NBC as its Public Relations Officer, she then entered the insurance industry serving Sanlam and Old Mutual in their Marketing and Communications department having served as Manager before starting her own public relations agency, Poiyah Media. She joined Sanlam in 2012 and served for close to five (5) years from a Consultant to a Manager. During her employment at all three institutions she managed various brand awareness Marketing Campaigns, research, positioning communication strategies internally and externally, facilitating excellent media relations and amongst its other stakeholders. Ilke has been an entrepreneur for over six years and has managed various brands such as Mobipay, Namforce, Letshego Bank, FesMedia, ABinBev to mention a few. Through extensive class moderated sessions at the University of Namibia, Namibia University of Science and Technology and Mancosa, she has facilitated many final year Media and Communications lectures upon request. She has availed training sessions to corporates alike in media engagement, online media management and public speaking. Ilke holds several accolades and qualifications in communications. She holds a Master’s degree in media from the University of Namibia (UNAM) in 2019 and 2020, enrolled for PHD at UNAM (to date). Ilke has been inducted into the Namibian Business Hall of Fame, appointed as Director of Communications for the Global Chamber of Business Leaders (2022), Nominee for Business Woman of the Year 2017 (Namibia Economist), Selected as Global Start Up Awards for Best Media Partner in Namibia 2019, African Achiever 2022 nominee and awarded as World Women Leadership, Africa’s World Woman Leaders in 2021. Her skills and credibilty have afforded her to be selected as judge for the Miss Namibia Beauty Pageant 2022 and 2023 respectively as well as judge for the Namibia Annual Sports Awards in 2022 and its Deputy Chair in 2023. Moderating various events as a sought aftre Director of Ceremonies she avails her time metoring final year students from the University of Namibia and Namibia University of Sciene and Technology.
